I've been trying to find some documentation for Thunderhub, but there does not seem to be much there or I am searching for the wrong things. Anyway, I was wondering, if I add a peer without opening up a channel. What is the idea there?
I've added a few peers one day and the next day, they were all gone and some new ones appeared there instead. What I was able to find is "If no channels are open with the peer, the peer will be disconnected." I just wonder why would it disconnect them.
It sort of seems a bit odd to let me add a peer and then remove it if I don't act on it right away.
You share ln gossip with them
You need to add peers if you want to connect channels. You can’t create a channel or them a channel too you without them being a connected peer first.

You cant control what another node does either. If they disconnect, restart, or whatever. You will not be connected as a peer anymore

Thanks. Ok that I get, but why allow me to add peers into a list. That feature seems a bit weird. If i open a channel, the peer is added automatically, so why would I ever want to add a peer manually and then open a channel?

If you want in bound liquidity and you want to use something like amboss, you will need to connect to the peer you are buying the channel from, so they can more easily find your node to open a channel.
