Citizenship is randomly assigned; it is a totally unfair system. It gives little room for merit, and encourages racism and sexism. "All citizens are equal." Except of course citizens of another nation. So citizens and non-citizens are not equal.
It is a feel-good system of "I am important and taking part in PoLiTics". For those in charge they are allowed to sell their shitizenship at little price on their part and extract resources out of those who want to buy their shitzenship.
