I know & see a lot of Africans that use Bitcoin or other altcoins, it definitely does reach them, it's more likely they use custodial solutions and don't run their own nodes (not that they need to, why would they).
It definitely does have more global reach than what this post shows, the difference being that node runners come from first-world countries.
