The Kansas City Chiefs are moving to Kansas.
Under a deal struck by the team’s owners and Kansas political leaders, the Chiefs will build a new stadium in Wyandotte County. A site for the stadium was not designated, but it's expected to be built near The Legends, a regional shopping mall and commercial area in the Village West development in Kansas City, Kansas.
The agreement outlines plans for a $3 billion domed stadium that will open at the start of the 2031 NFL season. It also includes plans for new team headquarters and training facilities in Olathe in Johnson County, raising the total project cost to $4 billion.

Domed stadium. Interesting choice.

Buffalo's new stadium is open air. I think it opens next season.

Most do seem to be opting for domes now.

Good catch.

Buffalo I guess wants to keep that home field weather advantage and also being a small market team.

It was going to be too expensive to put a roof on it.

I do think as more teams add domed stadiums some of these cold weather locations like Buffalo and Green Bay are going to provide an even more massive home field advantage to their home teams than they do now. Look at the Dolphins, they haven't won a cold weather game since 2016. Teams that never play in the cold rarely do well. Half the league already plays in domed stadiums or warm weather locations. If they add a bunch more domed stadiums you might only have a handful of cold weather open air stadiums left and a lot of teams that rarely play in those condiitons. That's a huge advantage late in season and in the playoffs.

Do you think the NFL will every require all NFL franchises to have a domed stadium?

For "fairness" and integrity of the league.

At some point they will probably require all new builds to be domed or retractable roof. It kind of sucks. Varied weather is one of the best things about the NFL especially late in the season and playoff push but I get they want the best possible product and fans to have a great time and spend all their money in comfort and climate controlled stadiums with amenities and luxury boxes. As fun as the 49ers game was last night with both teams scoring with ease, I don't think I would like it if every NFL game had 75 points scored. Dome stadiums don't guarantee high scoring but they tend to favour offenses.

I love watching a good snow bowl, but it sucks when your team's air em out offense gets beaten by a slow, sure footed running back. Injuries are also an issue.

Yep 2026

I think the NFL is fleecing the state of Kansas for $1.8B
