pull down to refresh

My son’s teachers employ ClassDojo in their teaching with students and engagement with parents. It has captured his imagination. He sometimes shares about the points he has been awarded thus far. It seems that his English teacher will dispense Lego sets once he accumulates 150 points.

Which is all well and fine — except that he somehow expects a reward system to be implemented at his home. Ooohhhh okay. Not particularly fond of the idea of flooding his overly stimulated senses with even more toys, but any parent keen to preserve his sanity and reduce the incessant bombardment of his eardrums will do what I have done — just give points lor!!

Thank goodness I’m crafty. Tonight, over dinner, I seized the opportunity to force him to articulate two sentences in Chinese to his grandfather: 我去游乐场。我玩得兴高采烈。 I refused to award him one point until he stopped trying to be funny and said those sentences in sincerely enunciated Chinese. One point awarded! I might as well use the reward point system to MY BENEFIT.

I’m all for it. So far, we’ve been unsuccessful at implementation but I hope to get something in place.

I read somewhere that a home economy is a great tool to teach kids about money when they are remunerated for doing something you are willing to outsource to someone else. Household responsibilities, not so much.

I think I need to let go n have my son mop the floor even if I don’t think he is doing it well haha

Our issue is that the kid isn't very motivated by reasonable amounts of money, so we either need raise her wages or convince her to want money more.

Sounds like Bitcoin Fixes this.

Change "points" to "Sats"

Just imagine: "Dad, I got 1,100 Sats at school today for answering questions in class correctly!"

I can implement an sats reward system at the home front! So exciting!

I thought this was excellent. Parents should always be in control of the game and not let their children take control.

Indeed. I just told him that I would give him one point if he changed into his clothes within three mins haha
