This Stacker News post (#1415430) got me to asking myself, "Why do I keep getting inquiries about a long-deprecated and inactive app that I made on the Play store?" I think I've gotten at least three inquiries into the "Satoshi Bitcoin Converter" app I made several years ago. It literally says "XXX" in the title now and something like, "this app is no longer active, go here..." (https://satoshibitcoinconverter.vercel.app) I got so sick of fooling with the Play store nonsense I just went PWA and never looked back. The crazy thing is that I can't even find that app anymore! I made it and am actively looking for it, but couldn't find it today. I have no idea how they found it.
Anyway, I got the sense from their inquiry is that they want to take over the account, however that would work. My theory as to why anyone would inquire like this is that it has zero to do with the app and everything to do with the fact that the account has been around over 10 years. I guess they want the "credibility" of seeming like they've been the one working on...whatever...for over a decade.
Any other theories?
(By the way, I posted here because the app was bitcoin related, not sure where else it might fit.)
