Recently, while looking at a recommendation from @DarthCoin , this question popped into my head!
When I first logged in here, I did so with a Proton email address. And that's how I've stayed.
My question is:
Can I switch to logging in with a wallet or a Nostr key and keep my username? In other words, can I switch from logging in with my email to one of these options and keep my current account?
Yes! You can add a number of simultaneous ways to login.
Go to profile -> Settings
And then scroll down to the bottom where you will see auth methods.
You can click/tap link nostr or any other method.
Adding author methods won't change your account.
Of course. SN has a couple of methods of signing in. You can do it in the settings here: https://stacker.news/settings
email login should be used only in cases when you do not have/ want a LN auth or nostr login. Let's say is the backup of the backup login, the last stand in case of SHTF.
But IMHO using nostr as main login and LN-auth as backup is more than enough.
Yes, you can login with both, for example you are not at your usual desk, with a proper browser extension using your nostr login, then you can use a dedicated mobile app to use LN-auth. I will suggest to use a dedicated LN wallet app for this. People are changing frequently mobile apps or refresh install it and with that will lose the access with LN-auth.
Yes. Go to settings and scroll to the bottom. You can add or replace login options.
