NEW CATEGORY! Which territory tends to get added on as a tag more than any other? Unsurprisingly, it's ~bitcoin! But it's unclear whether ~bitcoin is the main category or the add-on. ~Politics_And_Law is the runner-up. Do you think that tends to be the add-on or the main category?

abs has finally fallen off the top charts. But perhaps someone should start a Predyx market on when it will regain its place as #1?

Crosspost CorrelationsCrosspost Correlations

Now that crossposting is live, have you wondered which territories tend to get crossposted together the most? Wonder no more: below is a chart showing the likelihood of one territory being crossposted with another. The table is not symmetric: it shows the percentage of crossposts containing territory A that also contain territory B.

The chart shows that bitcoin is a popular territory to include alongside others. Moreover, a lot of the smaller territories are getting added to crossposts, so crossposting looks like it might be a boon to the smaller territories that may not attract many posts as the main topic, but are worthy of inclusion as a secondary topic.

Unsurprisingly, ~econ and ~Politics_And_Law are frequently crossposted together, as is ~Stacker_Sports and ~HealthAndFitness.

Notice that there is basically zero crossposting between ~Stacker_Sports and ~bitcoin, confirming my hypothesis that sports is so fiat.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this edition of Stacker News Monthly! Remember, stay humble and stack sats.

darth made a very good point

reply

I strongly disagree. It’s not even like that. how do you expect people to be? how is this coming off arrogant to you? Is arrogant the wrong word? I can’t even grasp at that. It’s literally charts and tables.

reply
0 sats \ 5 replies \ @anon 50m

See? You were triggered by the word "dicks" he used.
But he could easily said "toys", referring to charts and tables.
You are too judgemental...

0 sats \ 1 reply \ @anon 53m

sometimes you have too see and listen beyond darth"s simple and punitive words

reply

K but you’re putting a number value to those words so what is that

reply

the funnest part was showing incontrovertible evidence that sports is so fiat

reply

We (you) could test which territories are primary vs tacked-on, by looking at how territory revenues and post counts changed after crossposting went live.

reply

I don't get paid enough for this

reply

And yet, you often do it anyway

reply

I'm already a chump for being a prof, might as well keep chumping

reply

here are some (worthless, deteriorating, fake-)sats, go along and do it!

reply

thanks for the 5 cents!

reply

soon to be 4 cents. And after that, probs 3-2-1-0. Have fun

Tether IV (#1410689) was really long. Tether V will hopefully be shorter.

But when I get around to writing the prose story based on all these posts, I don't know what I'll do.

This is awesome to saw! 🎉 The sheer amount of words, posts, and sats earned is wild — feels like the community really show up this month. Loving how ~bitcoin and them other territories is still huge, and the stats makes me want to go write more just to stack a few of those skills myself 😄. Big props to everyone who contributed, especially the most active ones— but everyone else. This kind of energy is what making SN feel like a real home for thoughtful discussion and actual value. Let’s keeps it rolling into February! ⚡

reply

we can't do anything about sats received, at some level that's others validating our ideas/words... but that I lose to Scoresby in number of words by 2x... that's just insane. Inexcusable. Totally under my control
