Since I’ve been mining with Ocean, five days without a block being found is by far the longest stretch I’ve ever witnessed. What’s the longest period any of you have witnessed?

I just posted about this in the saloon yesterday. I've been with them almost two years. This drought matches one other five day stretch, if my memory is correct.

Same. Opti had an interesting insight.

super fascinating how having some skin in the game (even if its only marginal) makes you reckon with the hard reality of POW.
But I see now, the dry spell has ended, so congrats!

Yes, I had no idea about that until the Opti comment. Ignorance is bliss.

My apologies. I should check out the saloon more!

No big deal. You should check out the saloon, though. It's fun.

5 days ? Aah! Lols! Have been thinking blocks are added every minutes 🙄🙄

reply

This was just for Ocean pool. There are many other pools and solo miners out there.

The goal is having blocks added on average every 10 minutes. Difficulty is high currently and global hashrate is down. So, blocks are on average being found every 11.5 minutes. The next difficulty adjustment is targeting a -13.3% reduction. This should happen on or around February 7, 2026.

“Every 2016 blocks, the mining consensus rules retarget the proof-of-work threshold to bring the block issuance rate closer to a 10 minute interval.”[1]

And just like that, a block was found 28 minutes ago on Ocean.

In my world there are no coincidences 😀
