Well, Turkey is a NATO member. It has provided strategic airbases over the years. It is always complicated, but I think Turkey is in a tough spot geographically and ideologically, trying to walk a thin line.

USSR disintegrated in 1991, Dec 25

In 1991, nato had 16 members

Today, nato has 32 members, 16 more members after ussr collapsed

what is the purpose of nato today? serious question, not trolling

Oh, I agree. There is absolutely no need for NATO. I was just using that as an example of Turkey having friends.
