According to our best understanding of the universe, life appears bifurcated into two overarching realms. The first is the realm of classical physics and the intuitive laws that govern our everyday lives. Then, there’s the quantum realm—the domain of the extremely small where those classical rules appear to break down. One of the biggest head scratchers, at least from a classical perspective, is the idea of superposition, wherein atoms (as well as photons and other small particles) can exist as both particles and a waves.
