Despite it being a Saturday, I woke up at 5.30 a.m. this morning.

Which is a mere 30 minutes later than my routine.

Probably due to the nervous energy and trepidation I am experiencing. My Head of Department just returned me my virgin Science Weighted Assessment. Among other things, I had to “sharpen images”.

Which was quite intimidating to be honest. You see, I have always been an English teacher all my teaching life. I am more comfortable setting attitude and tone questions on the clash of civilisations (true story) than twiddling diagrams. I don’t even have Photoshop installed on the school laptop!

Thank goodness for Canva. I learnt that I could just upload my blurry images and increase their sharpness and clarity. I am satisfied with the outcome; I hope the HOD would be too.

In the midst of editing my paper, I realised that I needed to increase the font size of some of the labels. Again, I learnt that I could click on “Wrap Text” and insert textboxes in front of my original text. This would enable me to incorporate the modified text seamlessly into the diagram.

All these tweaks took time — and it was close to 9 a.m. by the time I was done. Nonetheless, I was floating on so much adrenaline that I proceeded to wash the master bedroom toilet. I’m serenely thrilled that I managed to solve my pressing problem first thing this weekend. And quietly satisfied that this dog still can learn new tricks.
