I've skimmed through that post, not fully concentrated because there's a lot of references in there and I'd 1) feel like I'd need to go through the referenced materials in order to get a better overview 2) feel like I'm probably sort of on that page/mission/journey already

From a personal vantage point, the main thing I "got" from the education system was good friends, some of whom I'm still very close with to this day.

Also, there's a whole different dynamic to studying and coming up with things if there are likeminded people around you, interested and invested in the same things. You can bounce ideas off of each other, inspire each other, provide different perspectives, correct & criticize each other, there's an element of competition that may arise, etc.

I've worked on most of my interests in solitude my whole life. The flame of inspiration is much more likely to go out if it feels like a solo effort that makes no difference to anyone. But maybe that's just my ego and the craving to belong.
