Great article, thank you. I've always been very interested in the story and got to visit Shenzhen a few times around the time he was active there, but never met him or learned anything more than what is publicly known

I am limited in that I can't read Simplified Chinese. I had to rely ilon translations. I think there is more to be uncovered. I saved all my research. Maybe native Chinese stackers will dig even deeper. I didn't include my footnotes. It's too long as it is!

the main purpose of the research effort was probably @siggy47 telling a good story; I don't see anyone complaining in court about some rando whizkid vanishing, only haggling over divvidends

Yes, but I believe it still is! The electronics district is still the place to be. Just the live music, underground raves, small bars and cultural activities are gone
