What I mean is, in the far future, will bitcoin be able to be used between planets? Between Earth and Mars for example, light takes between 3-22 mins depending on locations of the planets, even more of if the Sun is in the way and relay stations need to be used. Pluto is ~4.5 light-hours away.
Does this just mean it would take extra time to get into a block, that's all? And interplanetary txs would just be large, rare, and expensive?

I'd sooner invent a teleport and an instantaneous way to exchange information than we would get to Mars))))

As far as I know, there isn't anything that would prevent transferring bitcoin over any distance. Is that right? So, it does seem like this would slow down the verification process.
Maybe, that would mean that local commerce would have to be almost entirely off-chain, in the long run. It seems like that's where things are heading anyway, though.

Very interesting to think about.
The book Artemis (andy weir, author of the martian) called digital currency "slugs" but didnt clarify the timing difference between Earth and the Moon.
My guess each planet/moon has its own currency. Transfer between planets takes 20 minutes, and thats just how it is. Cant really speed it up.
Taking hard currency (gold) would be too costly.
Possibly just taking some sort of hardware wallet with you on your journey.
Dunno man i wont be alive to see it 🤣

Its just the money of Earth. If people started mining in space, we could end up with deep block reorgs.

Wait what? The Sun getting in the way between Earth and Mars?
Wasn't Earth flat and the Sun and everything else moved around above it?

Actually no, the Earth is hollow...and donut shaped...simultaneously
