The Circle Jerks! I saw them at the old 9:30 Club in Washington DC in the 1980s. I'm not going to lie. I don't recall much about the show, and I haven't listened to that style of music in a very long time. I like your analogy. I was around the DC punk scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s. I wasn't as involved as my friends. The Bad Brains were everything at that time and place.

Oh wow it's cool to see 9:30 club mentioned here I just recently saw Atmosphere there! I was visiting about a month ago and took the opportunity to go. Cool venue.

That's the NEW 9:30 Club. What a great history. I saw many shows there in the early 1980s. It was originally located at 930 F Street.

Man, were Bad Brains great.

Goldfinger has a song called "Get What I Need" that opens with the lines:

It was thirty years ago since we smashed the window
Of that northern California house
A safety pin in my ear on Cayton's bike
Playin' Bad Brains fuckin' loud

Still listen to both that song and a ton of Bad Brains regularly.

Impressive! It has been a long time for me. I was sort of on the periphery of all that in the late 70s and early 80s. I was a long haired hippy, and that DID NOT FLY! Many of my friends cut their hair into spikes or mohawks, but I still remained tight with them. I remain good friends with all of them to this day.

Some of those friends were members of popular DC bands at the time, like The Slickee Boys and Tru Fax And The Insaniacs.
