Children aged 17 or younger will face a lifelong ban on buying cigarettes, as the Tobacco and Vapes Bill clears Parliament.
Both the Commons and Lords have settled on a final draft of the "landmark" legislation that aims to stop anyone born after 1 January 2009 from taking up smoking by making it illegal for shops to sell them tobacco, to create a smoke-free generation.

No porn, no cigarettes... next, no alcohol for UK youth?

The kids need better representation in the UK government don't they?

People agreed to this? Smoking is bad, but governments limiting the right to choose what you put into your body is so much worse.

reply

I do not smoke but will definitely fight for your God given right to do whatever the f** you want with your lungs.

I'm starting to think the Liberty Ships were a bad idea.

reply

im not a big fan of stuff like this, but i mean if you're going to swing the ban hammer, ban the vapes as well, just as shit. go all in

reply

Vapes are nowhere near as bad as smoking.

reply

both are shit but too many people walk around sucking on vapes like they're this hamrless thing, but vapes can contain thousands of unknown chemicals and substances not disclosed by manufacturers, including industrial chemicals.

in a few decades, people will look back at vaping and marvel at how we could have been so niave

reply

I've condensed vape aerosol and sent it through a mass spectrometer. It's just not as bad as people think. That being said, e-cigs are different vs vapes, and they are probably worse than smoking. Lots of heavy metals and volatiles.

History shows bans usually just create a massive black market. Good luck enforcing this.

So nice... govs only want to "protect" you... is for your own good.

Next time vote harder

How on earth did the tobacco lobby allow this to happen? Or have they successfully pivoted to "smokeless alternatives" as (taxable) revenue source now?
