There's been a free, no-premine version of it available for 10 years. It's called BIP 300/301. If bitcoiners don't want to adopt it, fine, but this isn't really about the premine, it's just people opposing drivechains for the typical reasons.
I am too. Bitcoin has the benefits of brand name, history, and network effects.
However, Paul has fixed two mistakes that BCH made, in retrospect:
- There is no replay protection at the start.
- Only 3 changes from Bitcoin Core: a 90% blocksize decrease, BIP 300, BIP 301.
Everything else will remain the same as Core, and they'll even periodically rebase with new versions.
This essentially eliminates all core protocol development cost, and makes the choice between the two coins more straightforward. And its base layer will be more decentralized over the long run because of smaller blocks.
So, at the end of the day, it'll be Bitcoin's network effects advantages vs. eCash's (in my opinion) superior technology: a network of drivechain L2's.
There will be seven sidechains at launch:
- Thunder- big blocks/low fees
- Truthcoin- decentralized prediction market (actually decentralized, unlike Kalshi or Polymarket or Predyx. The truthcoin oracle has no singular point of failure.)
- Zside- zcash clone privacy chain
- Bitassets- NFTs, etc.
some others...
And anyone with a creative idea can launch one in the future, instead of starting an altcoin.
a. The coin isn't bitcoin. It doesn't pretend to be bitcoin. It's not called bitcoin.
b. The vast majority of cryptos (LTC, ETH, SOL, etc.) give nothing whatsoever to bitcoiners or to satoshi. This fork rewards all bitcoiners 1:1, and satoshi 50% of his stack, which is better than everything else except basically BCH.
c. Satoshi has nothing to lose. If eCash fails and goes to $0.00, then Satoshi has lost nothing. It was simply a silly experiment and Paul was wrong. And if eCash succeeds, surpasses bitcoin and becomes the one world currency or whatever, then that means bitcoin was flawed and needed drivechains (aka Paul was right) and eCash in effect saved half of his wealth, at the cost of the other half.
