Yeah, we might like it or not, but a name/nym is in a way a system of reputation. You wouldn't want to change it too often. The social media we have constructed over the years (Nostr copying features from Twitter, etc.) highly values and showcases the number of followers and likes. It's a popularity contest still.

And that's why I think SN is great! Not having to build a ridiculous following and instead being rewarded when you bring something to the table that others deem meaningful.
