Former Attorney General Pam Bondi repeatedly pointed the finger at Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel when asked about issues with the release of the Epstein files during her interview with congressional investigators Friday, and refused to answer any questions about President Trump’s involvement.
Democrats on the House Oversight Committee fumed over Bondi’s closed-door appearance before the panel. Though initially subpoenaed to answer questions about the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) handling of files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, she appeared under voluntary terms, was not video recorded, and refused to answer many questions posed by lawmakers under the direction of Justice Department lawyers who accompanied her.
Sounds like, with how it went, she is going to face getting subpoenaed again. This Congress, at least, nothing will result from this, but if the House flips next Congress could be real real interesting.
What's the word on the ground? Is it gonna flip?
It is kind of odd tbh. It should flip, but given the increase in gerrymandering across the US, it might not this cycle because of Virginia fumbling its efforts. For years, Republican states were not nearly as gerrymandered as people thought, but over the last 6 years, the Republicans started to, and then the Democrats went, " Oh snap, we need to do more and so it has created a cycle.
A prime example is the entire northeast. There are no House Republicans, but Republicans receive 40%+ in most of those states, so there is a representation issue. Illinois is another state that, for decades, was known to be bad. Texas clearly kicked off the sprint last year, but the efforts the Dems made to offset it prompted more Republican states to do the same, further tilting it.
Everyone keeps hinting at explosive revelations while carefully revealing absolutely nothing.
