Youth Day holiday today, and I made it count. Spent an interesting hour with Ken, the manager of Long Kuan Hung Crocodile Farm. Gathered two possible questions for future exam-setting: 1) why do female crocodiles build nests for their eggs? and 2) why does the crocodile open its mouth?

As if today wasn’t memorable enough, I met a fellow Singaporean from Books Don’t Throw (Singapore) who kindly passed me her copies of Inspire. If my sixth graders ace their Primary School Leaving Examination, I would really need to thank her!

Don’t leave us hanging. What are the answers?

reply
  1. keep the eggs warm (since crocodiles are cold-blooded animals) and prevent eggs from eaten by predators
  2. to regulate its temperature

do sixth graders in your country learn about animal adaptations?

I vaguely remember something about cold-blooded and warm-blooded animals, and that it’s why reptiles chill so much in the sun and why we sweat.

seems like you have remembered the essence!
