I think children are sorely lacking in communication skills these days because 1) family size getting smaller, 2) more used to offline communications via social media, 3) penchant for slang terms which sound hilarious but don’t carry much meaning, 4) addiction to gaming.

Team sports sound like a good way to boost one’s communication skills

Also good practice at not getting exactly what you want, since you need to negotiate and compromise with your teammates.

And, relatedly, it’s good for developing an appreciation of how people can bring their different abilities together for a single purpose.
