I wasn't able to participate in real-time and was pretty surprised when it wasn't visible.

I would much rather someone had shown why Mechanic is wrong than try to prevent us from hearing his perspective.

I agree. And it is a trouble with downzapping. I don't know how to resolve that downside of it.

reply

Growth might largely solve it

Woah, someone downzapped it for 35k sats.

reply

It was only 10k when I saw it. Whoever our main downzapper is, they tend to circle back around and knock things down again if they regained visibility.

We have our own little infowarrior.

Edit: 135k downzapped. Someone really doesn't want us to hear what @Mechanic2 has to say.

reply

There also seems to be something broken with SN's settings:

I have it set to negative infinity and yet I don't see the AMA post anymore

Mechanic posted it in ~bitcoin not ~AMA.

reply

Yeah, I hadn't realized that when i was looking. Should have deleted this when I realized.

Huh, I just saw it looking at top downzapped for the day

reply

Does it feel different as a steward to a territory than it felt as the downzapped poster for you too? For me (though this was mostly back in the 3:1 ratio times), in the former role it was truly pissing me off.

reply

Yes, it does feel different.

However, I'm doubly pissed because the only way I have to bring it back to the front is to zap mechanic, which I would not normally do to such a large scale.

reply

It's more frustrating somehow. I think you could pin it for a few days though? Then at least intra-territory it pops up.

My post: Okay - the thing I wrote is being disappeared... swallow pride and move on.

Someone else's post on your territory: Okay, I pay to platform this content then it gets disappeared. Feels like inability to steward excellence.

I'm sure that for profitmaxxing it is all great, but not many of us here are doing that.

reply

I don't think it's about profitmaxxing since those sats don't go back to the platform.

reply

The downsats don't, the upsat response is profits.

reply

sure, but if someone was downzapping themselves in order to get people to upzap them, wouldn't the net be roughly zero? (or a gamble at least that people will rally to your cause and upzap you). Seems like a risky way to go about it.

Oh I don't mean this is one of those things where a poster is gaming the system. What I mean to say is that if your territory is subject to a zap war by others, you're making sats. Not from the downzap side, but from the upzap side.

Gotcha. Forgive the slow brain. It's still early for me.

reply

For me too because I managed 2 nights in a row to make the poor decision of sitting on the bed while going over code, with a 100% hit rate of waking up hugging a laptop. 2nd coffee now though!

Unfortunately, he didn't post it in ~AMA, so I am mostly only involved out of honor. A bunch of the people I've gotten to do AMAs end up just posting in ~bitcoin (which is what mechanic did).

I can get keyan to pin it though I think.

reply

Oh!!! "Well, then it's not your problem, but k00b's" 😂

Nah I get it. That somehow makes it worse.

reply

Be creative. Put out a note that says Mechanic's AMA is being suppressed and see if the BIP110 crew will rally their sats for him.

reply

There's also this: I don't think he attached a receive wallet. So zaps are all CCs. I can see that being a point of contention if they pile up much.

reply

Yes, I probably should have done that. I don't really want to start some kind of kerfluffle about.

reply

Make downzaps show who did them.
