For a while, I struggled with my beard—it’s not as thick as yours looks in the video—but I just let it grow out, and now I just keep it groomed. Looking at photos from about three years ago, I look like a kid without that beard; it’s a huge difference.
It really depends on personal taste, though... so don't worry about it.
