The markets aren't helping here. Every single one of them has a section where you can "predict" who will win sports matches and other such things, and those sections are, in fact, gambling, not information markets. Of course, the markets also make tons of money on these sections, so they've got no incentive to not have them.

I think a lot of people still treat prediction markets like gambling, when they're really information markets. The incentives are completely different.
