This was something that I had learned a couple of years ago, talking to our Space team. In a way, the initial explosion shows how well the Space Shuttle was made, given the booster explosion and the ship's disintegration. The one part about this video that I wasn't too fond of was when they called the Teacher in Space Project a political stunt because I think it sells short and downplays the immense role and impact of Christa McAuliffe.

Christa made a lasting impact on NASA and the U.S. space industry at large. Her backup, Barbara Morgan, continued the work that Christa was leading and, in 2007, completed the educational lessons that she had been planning. Even more, in 2017, two astronauts completing a long-duration mission on the ISS, Joseph Acaba and Ricky Arnold, chose to honor her legacy by re-filming her educational lessons on the ISS.

The quote from President Reagan I feel perfectly expresses what people felt and still feel. "We will never forget them, nor the last time we saw them, this morning, as they prepared for their journey and waved goodbye and slipped surly the bonds of earth to touch the face of God."
