This advice makes a lot of sense to me. It’s pretty basic triage logic.

I see that, but it comes with risks that are easy to overlook. Not least of which is that I suspect a significant portion of people who "fly to safety" on an exchange will not soon come back to self custody. And I wonder how many people will see such advice and think: if it's good enough for an emergency, maybe it's good enough for all the time.

Of course I agree with you but I also don’t think they’re wrong about what most people will be comfortable with.
