In light of this coldcard vulnerability. If you had a multisig with 3 keys holding most of your funds, does it make sense to put some bitcoin on the single sig addresses for all 3 seeds as a canary to know for whatever reason that key is compromised?

@DarthCoin - I know you are opposed to multisig, but is that based solely on it being overly complicated for most users and simply not justified on a risk vs reward basis as compared to single seed + passphrase?
I ask because Cyph3rp9nk, who seems to have very similar thoughts as you on most things in this space, appears to be changing his stance to ‘multisig might be the best option’ in light of the recent turmoil.

Simply put: is not about multisig that makes your stash safer. But the randomness of entropy.
Multisig is mostly to be used when are more than ONE individual using the same wallet (aka corporations etc).
An individual with just 0.1BTC in a wallet using multisig is the the perfect combination to get rekt. Complicating things is not making them necessarily more safer.
People lose their sats because of their mistakes !
Reminder: Satoshi's wallet is still there and nobody drain it... and he didn't used any multisig or coldcard... just think about that. Simplicity.
I think people still do not understand what was really happening with Coldcard... and they mistakenly consider it a "hack". but wasn't a hack. Just a vulnerability in the entropy.

No. If you used coldcard to generate, they are compromised, period.
Putting amounts only gives leads. Migrate your funds off vulnerable multisig.
Not a bad idea generally, but as @optimism said, for a vulnerable coldcard-generated seed, what's the point? Generating a new secure seed and then doing the single sig canary thing makes more sense

Yes — and canary each key individually, not just the multisig itself. Keep devices and backups fully separate, no shared physical location between them. The part that actually matters: run a decoy single-sig AT THE SAME TIME, and toss it a small deposit every so often so it reads as a real bag instead of a tripwire someone can spot.
