Other:
My only enemy is myself.
No other man has such persistent access to my life as that person.
No other man nearly as capable of sabotaging my future

That motherfucker knows every weakness, every excuse, every fear, every rationalization. He knows exactly where my discipline breaks and where my convictions begin to bend.

Other people may force my hand. They may deceive me, oppose me, or even threaten me. So, I act. I protect what needs protecting. I do what the situation demands.

But I refuse to spend the energy meant for the things I love forging myself into another link in the chain of hatred.
That energy belongs to my family, my friends, my craft, and the people I choose to protect, not to the people who would consume it.

My life is finite. My attention is finite. I refuse to donate either to people who haven't earned them.

The only battle that never ends is the one against complacency, cowardice, arrogance, and self-deception.
If I lose to another man, I can recover.
If I lose to myself, I've surrendered the only thing that truly belonged to me.

So my enemy is not the man across from me.
My enemy is the man within me who whispers, "Tomorrow."
Who says, "Good enough."
Who asks me to compromise my principles for comfort.

That is the enemy I must defeat, every single damn day.
