I was worried Saylor, ETFs and other suitcoiners would be persuaded by the veneer of more pure monetary maximalism touted by BIP110.
But yeah, it is hard to make a person contradict their source of income.
Of course I'm not aware of all that goes on for other Core devs, but I don't get the impression that anyone mixes that much with "suits". Chaincode, while having offices not too far from Wall Street and having founders from trad-fi, actually also had those 2 founders be Core devs themselves.
I heard some others met Jack Dorsey but he seems quite hands off, as do other sources of funding.
But cliques always form among humans and group think happens. Narratives can be spun.
I think the power of the Bitcoin enthusiast lies mostly in furthering the culture of self-custody, privacy, and advocating for the dignity which Bitcoin's fixed supply guarantees. And experimenting with ways to kickstart local bitcoin economies.
And the door for new devs to contribute to Core remains open.
