Thanks for sharing this, funny how we call old technology "obsolete" while building an economy where almost everything is designed to be replaced every few years. What surprises me is how people throw away perfectly working things without a second thought, I've found hundreds of DVDs and VHS tapes abandoned on the street, movies that someone once bought, owned and enjoyed, now considered worthless. I’m not really into cars, but I have always liked things that can be repaired and kept alive. I repaired my old DVD player myself, it’s more than 20 years old and it still works perfectly today, in my view, the problem is not the hardware, but a culture of disposable consumption where we stopped valuing ownership, repair and keeping things alive. I still prefer opening a movie case, putting the disc in and hearing it spin rather than letting an algorithm decide what I watch. No subscriptions, no disappearing catalogues, just something I actually own. I’ll probably make a post soon showing some of the things I’ve found because there is a whole forgotten economy hiding in the things people throw away
