Hope you are well. What needs to be done for Bitcoin to be more user friendly to people who either don't understand it or have never used it before.

Bitcoin is already user friendly.
What is missing is normies EDUCATION.
People must read and test new things in order to learn to use this new technology, new money.
People must start learning what really is money, in order to understand what is Bitcoin.
Having dumb fancy apps will not help normies to use Bitcoin.
Bitcoin doesn't need dumb people just using simple bitcoin apps.
Bitcoin need smart people, with good knowledge, that they know what they are doing and how they are doing it.

Interesting input. Adoption will happen overtime. More people will learn about Bitcoin overtime.
