I think the solution to where to sit is in choosing to sit in a number of different places.

But, as to this business of whether our era has delivered on Keynes' speculations...I think it may depend on where your sitting. At a bar in Italy, you might think it hasn't done so well. Everything in Europe is small, broken, and slightly derelict. If you are sitting in a bar in Texas, things might not feel so bad, but the food isn't good and there are homeless people camped in front of the nice buildings. If you're at a bar in Chengdu, the buildings are brand new and possibly on their way to receivership.

I'm not well-traveled enough to make thus theory stick, but I know that the vibes in Austin are very much more hopeful and excited than those in Naples. It would be interesting to think about whose grandchildren's economic possibilities we are considering.
