I daydream about what I want, sometimes I even think I go overboard. I long for a house, I fantasize every day about the garden, decorating my daughter's room, having a hammock where I can lie back and watch the rain fall and relax to the sound. I dream of decorating it to my liking, doing the shopping for my house, and making things with my own hands. I imagine my daughter sitting on the swing hanging from a branch of our tree, my cat running through the garden chasing some small prey. I want, I long with all my heart to have my own safe place, a little piece of land that is just ours (my little family), a place where no one tells us we have to leave, a place where we don't have to pay every month to be there, a place where we can be ourselves, a place where others don't impose their rules on us.
I can imagine every corner, every detail, even its smell.
Whenever I see pictures of houses with the profile I would like, I save them, whether out of masochism, motivation or inspiration, feeding my dream, my goal.
I even think about overcoming the hardships of living in Venezuela by having solar panels, a Starlink connection, and a water tank.
I love you, my dream house
Being a homeowner for many years now I see houses and all the things that go wrong.
HVAC breaks
Stains on the walls
Roof leaks
Mice in attic
Window seals break
Cut the grass
Heating and cooling bills
Hard water issues
Garage door breaks
Constantly have to fix something but it is nice to have a place to call home in which you can do as you wish!
Not sure if I have a dream home I would have to do a lot of window shopping to find something that i actually fell I love with.
The key is to keep it simple, and small. Less is more. Minimalism goes a long way. You need a lot less than you think.
Yes, you're right. The most important thing is to acquire your own land.
Man, I feel this. Our fridge just broke this week. Homeownership is full of headaches!
Exactly. Yesterday my carbon monoxide detector was beeping out the blue
to be fair, every headache a homeowner experiences a renter also experiences, but the renter is at the mercy of the homeowner as to whether they actually gonna fix it
Exactly. Or the fact that the contract ends or isn't renewed. Etc., etc. I think I'd rather have the headache of fixing something in my house than not have my own place to stay, no matter how small and simple it is, the important thing is that it's my own. There's nothing more stressful than not knowing if you'll have a place to spend the night (I speak from experience).
Did it start at a disorienting hour of night? That’s when ours always starts up.
Nah thank goodness it didn’t
At this point, do you think it's better to rent or own a property?
Always better to own if you can! As a child we didn’t own so pets were always not allowed. Now that I know I can have all the pets I want

Big shower, 4 shower heads blasting me at once. Also, a central bedroom with no windows, so light can't disturb people who are sleeping.
No windows to open? What about the smelly farts then?
central air hvac
Yeah those are good. Had one in my recent airbnb studio. Fart-free living! Didn’t purge the baked salmon smell though very easily from the studio..
Good habit to write down dreams and goals like this and manifest them. Then taking action to make them a reality becomes easier.
Amen. May God hear your words.
And if you think that actually you already have the dream house, you are automatically being directed to take action and can’t help anything else than to make that happen.
Funny how it works innit.
I like Earthships. I tend to imagine a more urban/hybrid variation though - something built to make the most of its lot. A view off the back porch would be nice - something hillside or cliffside. I don't dream this way much anymore though. It's probably cope, but I find it more satisfying and practical to turn whatever I have into something livable.
Having a view like the one you describe must be incredible. I dream a lot because I don't own anything yet, but if I did, I'd try my best to make it a welcoming place.
It’s great to keep your goals in mind. That makes it easier to spot opportunities for improvement.
You’ll most likely find that there’s actually no such thing as a dream house, meaning there will always be things you wish were different, but there are such things as houses where your family can thrive.
For now, realistically, I'm interested in having a small plot of land with a little house, our own place, our safe haven. Decorations will come last.
That’s a great way to start. Once you’re in your space, you learn a lot about how you like to use it and which changes will add the most value.
Just thinking about it gives me an emotion I can't describe; it must be a spectacular feeling.
I’m looking forward to reading about you moving into such a place.
Amen 🥺
Beautiful post...it's so important to have something of your own, it doesn't matter how it's decorated as long as it's yours, even if it's simple. The important thing is to feel good in that place with your family and have pleasant experiences; that's a home (sweet home).
That's correct

Thankfully since we moved my wife stopped looking at houses every free moment she had.
Be where your feet are is what I say.
Yes, we must live in the present, but sometimes our desires are very strong.
thanks for sharing :)
I can’t decide whether my ideal home would be a house by the sea, in the countryside or in the mountains.
I don't have many specifications other than being deep, deep in the woods.
My dream house is a simple two-bedroom home for my wife, me, and our two kids. Fully paid for, with no loans or involvement from banks.
Live in cabin I framed with timber I milled...clad in metal sheet.
Fully offgrid solar, rainwater.
Composting toilet.
Woodstove.
The kitchen and bathroom are in separate outhouses.
Living the dream never been more comfortable.
