I’m getting hit right now with an email bomb attack! As far as I can tell I don’t have any Google account security activity. I changed my password anyways. Anything to do in particular? Just ride it out? Looks like they tried to get into my old Intuit account and then 20min later I got flooded with newsletter subscription verifications

I called Go2Bank and confirmed I am a victim of identity theft and that someone tried to open a debit card account with my name and home address. I’m now freezing my credit report with all three bureaus. I’ll figure out more in the morning!
Wow crazy. Hope you get it sorted out.
I assume there is some kind of filtering Gmail can apply, but I’m not sure. Fortunately I’ve never dealt with this. But I would say, just receiving a bunch of emails doesn’t mean you’re hacked, but rotating password is good just in case.
Something that just occurred to me, they might be bombing you with emails so that they can hide or obscure an important one among the junk?
THIS 100%
yes that’s what ChatGPT said. so I’ve gotta go back and sort thru it
Just be happy you are popular.
Someone tried to get into my google account about a month ago and I had to change my password. I didn't get a million emails though.
anything happen after? I’m also getting this
Coinos problem. You need to create a new connection.
Be careful: sometimes attackers use email bombs (signing you up for hundreds of newsletters) to bury the real alerts: password changes, new logins, etc. Don't just mass-delete.
agreed
Since Go2Bank confirmed a fraudulent application, I’d treat this as identity theft with an email bomb used as cover, not merely a Gmail nuisance.
Priority order tonight:
new account, password reset, order, verification, bank, card, andcredit. Save the legitimate fraud notices and case numbers. You’re already doing the right high-value step by freezing the bureaus. Keep a timeline: first bomb email, Intuit attempt, Go2Bank call, confirmation, and every case number. That makes disputes much easier tomorrow.
