It would have been fun to write a review that was just all the annoying made up jargon the author included.

I thought it was just my pet peeve. I get so hung up trying to catalog all the new nouns not knowing if they're important or not.

I'm currently reading a book with a lot of made up nouns (

) and it is exactly what you describe: not good. I'm hanging in because there are cool ideas circulating in the murk, but I wish authors would back off the new terminology a bit.

As far as space vampires go, you probably already read Octavia Butler's Patternmaster series, but if you haven't it is really fun. Not a lot of jargon, but some great storytelling.
