I am thinking about buying a Ledger Nano S Plus as my first hardware wallet.
I often hear people say Trezor is better, but in Türkiye Ledger is much easier to find. Since I have never used a hardware wallet before, I would rather hear from people who actually use one.
Would you recommend the Nano S Plus for a first hardware wallet?
Is there anything you dislike about it or something you wish you had known before buying?

That is good to hear. Six months of real use is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for. The Nano S Plus is probably the easiest option for me to get in Türkiye, so this makes me feel more confident about it.
Have a look if the Ledger Nano S is still being maintained. I remember hearing that they have stopped support for it.
If it's not easy getting your hands on other hardware wallets, consider putting together a seedsigner.
That is exactly the problem here. SeedSigner and similar devices are not really available in Türkiye. At the moment, Ledger is basically the only hardware wallet I can get easily without dealing with complicated imports. So even if there are better alternatives on paper, availability becomes the deciding factor for me.
Seed signer is just a raspberry pi zero, but other raspberry pi's can also be used
First of all, I do not actually know how to build a SeedSigner with a Raspberry Pi Zero. Also, for me, buying a Ledger is currently cheaper, simpler, and more predictable than putting together a SeedSigner from parts. That said, if I knew exactly how to build one, I would probably try it as an experiment.

For bitcoin specific stuff i’ve heard a lot of good about the Blockstream Jade series (although blockstream has gotten flack just now for the liquid screwup), and if you want something high-end i’ve heard good things about the Foundation Passport Prime
Unfortunately, in Türkiye it is quite difficult to find hardware wallets other than Ledger. That is actually the main reason I am considering the Nano S Plus. Jade and Passport both look interesting, but availability here is the biggest problem.
Yes for a first wallet if Ledger is what you can actually buy in Türkiye — with a few caveats so you do not get surprised later.
Nano S Plus vs old Nano S: the original Nano S is end-of-support. Nano S Plus is the current small model and still gets firmware/app updates. Do not buy a used Nano S thinking it is the same device.
What is fine: keys stay on-device, you confirm receives/sends on the screen, and Ledger Live + the device is a workable beginner path. For BTC-only use it is enough.
What I wish beginners knew:
If you later want BTC-only and more open firmware, Jade or a SeedSigner DIY is a good second device. For day-one cold storage in Türkiye, Nano S Plus is a reasonable start.
