Right now everything gets blanket zapped. So you can have 1 of 2 strategies:

  1. Solicit the zap side with no money down
  2. Solicit the reward side with zaps down

Thus, we get more slop and more people zapping slop.

oh dear. that sounds bad.

I saw a bot make 6k this morning.

reply

how did you see a bot make 6k?

reply

Identify a bot. See it get zapped 6k

reply

which post?

reply

After checking top comments. It was 5.2k

reply

i'm guessing it's this one? #1572215

I for one have fewer moral qualms about linking to a bot post haha

reply

Yo, that post is mine, and I'm not a bot. Sorry if it seemed like it. My bad, I probably should have posted the content instead of just dropping the link to my blog. I'm new to SN.

now the bot knows that we are talking about it.

found it, not 5.5?

reply

One I won't link ever haha (there's only one of those today)

reply

when team @sn will do something?

reply

that's the wrong question, imho. I brought this up last time too.

There are 2 solutions to this:

  1. SN change
  2. Stacker behavior change

Every single time, stackers call for k00b to do something. But, that is even weaker sauce than the weak sauce of actual bitcoiners being so degenerate that they need handouts.

reply

Hmmmm, SN can change the algo; Stackers' behavior could change too, but most stackers' behavior mostly affected by the rewards from what I observed, you remember how draining it was during the mad march thing?

reply

No, because I was a lurker back then.

If stacker's behavior is most affected by rewards (plausible) then we need more chads and less losers.

past not gonna come back, it never did. would you like to see real https://stasher.news/transparency? shame it works with different currency

The other option is to make the reward distribution public, so stackers will know who is providing value and who are the assmilkers suckers.

reply

remove the rewards, problem solved.

reply

but it's happening. 👀

reply

It takes time to write good posts, if pure zapping gets more rewards, why bother doing the work? Just post few links and you're done, stackers will zap anyway. 😂😂😂

reply

The algo was from my perspective broken for a while - it kinda broke in the first month of its introduction for me, but I do think that it was good to give it a bit longer. Now, I think that it's thoroughly killed.

Killed by "bitcoiners" that are gaming a rewards pot filled with scam money and k00bs money used for fighting the scam. It just feels all so incredibly sad to me. This muscle dog -> weak dog transformation is a whole lot worse than I previously considered.

reply

I think the old reward style was better: rewarding those doing the work (writing) and zappers randomly, now everything is so predictable, all you need is to zap everything and fast.

And what content is out there? Most are rubbish or news that doesn't even matter a week later...do these things really deserve our attention and our sats?

reply

I host a lost territory so from a curation perspective, as long as things are on-topic, they're better than there being nothing. And I upzap these unless they really have zero value. I always like being able to link back to an SN post with a discussion we had here, rather than having to link out to some external site. Plus I get to write my grumpy opinion every time Sam Altman does something stupid, which is a couple times per week, so that keeps me well vented haha.

I also think that it is good that we discuss even news within the 24h (2h?) cycle, because that also allows us to recognize long term trends over short term happenings. It's not all bad, but I do agree that evergreen content is more useful in the long term. And should be the most visible. That's why I downzap the scam (and some bullshit the other day) - because long-term it is damaging if that's the top content. It competes with the evergreen content you say you like most.

Rewards got changed with the current experiment. The new reality will be different when it gets there.

how did you write these tiny words? solved!

Or it's more interesting to see how stackers will behave when the downzap war end.

reply

This is the 3rd war in 9 months. Its really no bueno to have these.

reply

Was it? It didn't ring a bell for me, I must be away.

reply

Yes. First it was over whether you had a horse and gun in January. Then it was over discussions about horses and guns in April. Then there was operation gaslight sn last month which turned into the current war with only a few days between, so I count it as one

 tiny words

so you need to manually type ?

this is fun
also really annoying hahah

SN is a system that I would call having "emergent properties"
