I find the words "custodial" and "non-custodial" non-intuitive. I always find myself performing mental gymnastics to understand what is being point towards. "Self-hosted lightning addresses" is quicker to understand than "Non-custodial lightning addresses" imo
I agree. Then there is a cognitive/psychological factor: to express a positive result we use a negative input, not the best for the mind, which usually subliminally tends to ignore the negatives and fixate on the main word.
+1 for "self hosted"

It gets confusing though, technically for this project the lighting address is hosted by someone else but the payments go to your wallet.

It's hosted by someone else on the default instance but the code is open source so can be self-hosted.
If that is the intention of the project however, the readme file should be updated with instructions on how to do this.

Sure it can be self hosted but that ruins the point of it. The point is so people can have a lightning address without having to run a webserver. If you are going to self host this, may as just self host a real lightning address.
Yeah I need to actually finish the project and make a proper guide lol

Agree with you, but it's because these terms are inherited from legal and financial definitions. The public description needs to be clear to regulators to ward them off for a while longer.
