I get it, personal responsibility matters. But 'you are always free to relocate' is a privilege, not a universal right, most people can't just pack up and leave, and even if they could, every jurisdiction has its own monopoly on violence. The difference between a politician and a citizen is that one can send men with guns, and the other can only vote every four years. Both have responsibility, but only one has power.

In most countries are there remote regions where there is much less government.
Most people can move to another country if they are determined.
You can always blame some one else but people want to live where there is taxation because if there is not there is no infrastructure or security..there is poverty and corruption.
Voting every four years is far from the only thing a citizen can do to keep their government honest.
You are just writing yourself an excuse for not taking any responsibility by claiming taxes are inherently bad.
Its a lazy cynical opt out where you are the biggest loser.
The one thing politicians play upon the the fact that most citizens do not know or want to know how much power they really have.
When people wake up and realise how much power they have the politicians rapidly become more accountable.
This lazy Libertarian blaming of taxes and politicians actually ironically lets to politicians off the hook.
Massive own goal.

You didn't respond to what I actually said. I wasn't arguing whether taxes are good or bad, I was asking what would happen if they were optional, and whether real solidarity only exists without coercion. Infrastructure and security don't require a state, they can come from communities, cooperatives, or markets, and 'move if you're determined' is survivor's bias: most people can't. The difference between a taxpayer and a subject is consent, and consent under threat isn't consent

Try living without a government.
You will not last a week without collapsing in a heap begging for a Big mac, a coke and a Blanket.
Good taxes enhance the life and security of citizens.
Bad taxes are only possible where citizens fail to ensure their government is one of integrity.
Simplistic morons who bleat 'tax is bad' are unlikely to take the time and effort to ensure their government is one of integrity...they are their own worst enemy.
