But seriously... here in Brazil, ever since I arrived, every time I meet someone and I tell them I'm Cuban, and they say they love Lula or are leftists, I spend my time trying to get those socialist ideas out of their heads... sometimes I've even missed the bus... but I don't really know what's going on, so much leftist propaganda.
The worst part is that none of those leftist students have gone through what we had to go through under a communist regime.
Yes, US. I think the dominant point of view among young people is that the system is broken. I don't really blame them for feeling that way. The system is indeed FUBAR. But because they are not educated properly, they reach for solutions that will likely make things worse.

I'm shocked how many students really think the government has the ability to make things better, and that the chief problem is corporate power. I probably need to build a repertoire of well-identified (and easy to narrate) papers showing how government policies lead to poor outcomes, and then teach those papers more.

It's not just students. I forgive students because it's part of the journey to be wrong... and to find out that you are. And then, when you're a bit older, you'd be wiser. Because you learned that you're wrong, right?
WRONG! Almost everyone I know outside of my Bitcoin frens is like this. And it really bothers me, because at times it becomes impossible to have a normal discussion with almost anyone outside of our little edge scene. It's always that gov-must-do-this, gov-must-do-that. To the tune of an alarm clock almost. How screwed are we if in 2026, all everyone can think of is an appeal to the authorities to effect change?

It's happened to me a lot with people at the church I go to... and it's surprised me when we talk in the men's meetings... all their hope is that the government will do X thing or that they'll remove Lula from power in the elections
That's it... their hope is placed in a man, and if Lula wins the elections this October, they'll even get depressed... and the saddest thing for me is to think that they are believers and yet they still put their hope in men and not in God
