ok so i finally got recieve working but i cant attach a send wallet. i want to use phoenix on android but all i see is phoenixd. am i stuck running the daemon or is there a way to use the app?

you can't attach phoenix wallet anymore. phoenix provide you a BOLT12 offer but sn does not have that implemented (yet?),
apparently options to attach non-custodial wallets are gone. @k00b is that correct?
Phoenix Android runs its own LDK node locally, no daemon needed.
In order for you to attach a wallet to spend on Stacker News, it has to have some way to authorize spends when you tap the lightning button (or pay a post fee, etc). Phoenix on mobile doesn't allow us to do this. The daemon version does.
We have the same issue with Strike and CashApp. You can attach them as receiving methods, but not as spending methods. You may find it easier to use a wallet that supports Nostr Wallet Connect.

You could let users add any wallet as an option so that pressing zap (or any other payment button) at least opens the wallet automatically on mobile. Damus does this. I suggested this to @k00b before; maybe you'll have more luck.
Why not have a play with Shockwallet and give the hosted node a whirl, it'd be good experience to set up and it can send/receive
