Question In the future or currently is it possible to use a lightning address e.g Chungkingexpress@stacker.news or getalby.com for actual emails too? Seems like a great next step. What would the mechanism for this be? What happens if you try to send sats to an address that does not exist?

No. Email will disappear slowly. We now have better alternatives.

Same with phone numbers. Only used as a carrier for identity these days.
