Curious. It is a physical fax machine, dialup modem or online fax service?

I'm using an online fax service. Did you used a fax machine? Perhaps some glitches with tone/pulse config?

I have an old US Robotics handy, but today it's not easy to route a spare (and updatable) number to a physical RJ11 port.
