As long as we are aware of the actual risk vector there’s no inherent shame in using spyware or custodial wallets for example. Just remember anything you write or share in Google services is piped directly to nsa for indexing

I'm on a similar path. I have an occasional snag with protonmail, especially regarding having to download a pdf to see the content, though I know that's the price of encryption. I still battle my own security v convenience balance.
