Artificial Intelligence versus Original Intelligence.
My very personal view. Conceived during writing ‘Deep Blue Solo’ (working title) – an attempt to continue our Changing Matter Epilog (changing-matter.org/).
Initial Thoughts You can't be right or wrong with any predictions. But no technology has moved faster than Generative AI (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) in the last 18 months.
  • Recent months have seen AI labs locked in an out-of-control race to develop and deploy ever more powerful digital minds that no one – not even their creators – can understand, predict, or reliably control.
  • Key drivers are the ongoing rise of computational power: “Computational Power: While the power of computation has been doubling every 12 to 24 months for the past 50 years (Moore’s Law), it is just recently (the last 5 years) that there is enough computational power to run today’s deep learning algorithms. Massive amount of labeled data: Global data has been doubling every two years, and is expected to reach 175 Zettabytes (175 billion-million-megabytes) in 2025. Not only is it a large amount of data, but it is also labeled data, enabling the training of today’s large language models (LLMs). Demonetized Training Costs: The cost to train these AI systems has plummeted 99.5% in the last five years. That’s extraordinary. Massive Investments: In 2021, corporations invested $160 billion in AI. By 2030, the global AI market is projected to be worth $1.6 trillion. Inception: We saw ChatGPT go from 0 to 100 million users in just two months.”
  • Advanced AI could represent a profound change in the history of life on Earth, and should be planned for and managed with commensurate care and resources.
  • Back in 2018 Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said, “Artificial intelligence could have more profound implications for humanity than electricity or fire.”
  • AI systems with human-competitive intelligence can pose profound risks to society and humanity, as shown by extensive research and acknowledged by top AI labs.
  • I believe AI can co-exist, when in balance with our collectively activated and integrated Original Intelligence.
  • Our main task now is to balance the power of all living consciousness (Original Intelligence) and the power of machines.
We are the organic seeds of a synthetic life (= made-up matrix).
  • Spontaneity & safety over predictability
  • Freedom & sovereignty over control
  • Love & vitality over rationalization
Origin of GenAI/ LLMs The GenAI/LLM community more or less stumbled across a specific Software technology – transformers* (2017) – that forms the base of all GenAI and LLM solutions: so, synthesizing anything that can be turned into a sequential pattern. This is THE one underlying invention, and it originally comes from language translation…
  • *Transformers = Neural network(s) that learn context and meaning by tracking relationships in sequential data, like the words in a sentence; it comprises self-supervised learning. Like neural networks, transformers are basically large encoder + decoder blocks to process data, and based on those computers and algorithms can see similar patterns human can see
  • But the human mind has a completely different architecture for intelligence to transformer models. Transformer models only come close to how our short-term memory functions.
  • The good news is that, with this technology or foundational transformer model, we are able to address important problems, in areas such as climate change, health, education, etc.
  • And yes, the GenAI modalities that are currently being discussed are fascinating: synthesizing images, videos, text, 2D/3D, etc.
  • This moment is also interesting because language is the magic thing: it is the OS of human culture GenAI also becomes a kind of new universal UI for human interaction.
  • And yes, LLMs could become our little buddy and augment us, but personalization would be key for that and still is an unsolved key challenge.
  • GenAI/LLM for sure have a negative impact: by augmenting us they manipulate us
  • Key question is: how can we collectively use AI to make us become a better species?
Outlook: From GenAI/LLMs to Super Intelligence My personal interest is designing artificial intelligence and machine systems that are centered to reflect organic structures or with a regenerative mindset (Gaia, Pacha Mama), also in its true feminine sense.
  • Today, the majority of AI is designed with a patriarchal mindset, meaning all that is of balance (e.g. nature) is often not factored into the equation, although we can learn so much from it (e.g. PCH Innovations’ industrial biome concept).
  • When we contemplate what the spirit of AI and the human spirit is, we should especially listen to conversations from people at the top of AI development, basically prophesying that AI can become the super-intelligence.
  • We are not there yet, but there is no doubt that AI systems with human-competitive intelligence could pose profound risks to society and humanity, as shown by extensive research and acknowledged by top AI labs.
  • These advanced AI systems could represent a profound change in the history of life on Earth, and should be planned for and managed with tremendous care and resources (machine consciousness, machine ethics, machine morality). Same applies for bio technologies, automation/robotic technologies, nuclear technologies, etc. And unfortunately, this level of planning and management is not happening, at least not right now.
  • One big frontier for (super-)intelligence is to understand human psychology and our access and phenomenological consciousness.
  • True Artificial (super-)Intelligence could only exist once the variations and complexity of the spirit (of nature, of humans, of the universe) could be (de-)coded. Our human spirit, or consciousness of it exists in our neurology and mitochondrial DNA, it exists in the akashic field, and in all of our souls (we are one) – which I hope will never be accessed or cracked/ hacked. I truly believe the Divine (as entity) would also prevent any invasions or hacks.
  • How I understand human spirit, one of the flaws from the super-intelligence promise is that we forget that human spirit and its nature is organic, fluid and spontaneous (neural plasticity).
  • When the human spirit is fully in alignment and fully in integrity, it acts in loving, spontaneous and wondrous ways; whereas AI uses a series of assumptions based on historical data (= patterns) to predict, and these predictions are based on probability and what is most likely.
  • I also believe that without understanding and deeply reflecting on the differences of the intelligence (better 'wisdom') architecture between human and AI, we actually lose our power and what makes humanity sovereign, free and safe.
Conclusion: AI vs. OI
  • I think (Gen)AI overall is overhyped, machine learning is not sentient, and not as smart as it seems; this first round of primitive AI agents like ChatGPT and Dalle are best thought of as universal interns or assistants, their work has to be checked and reviewed..
  • Kevin Kelly summarizes it well: “So far, out of the perhaps dozen of cognitive modes operating in our minds, we have managed to synthesize two of them: perception and pattern matching. Everything we’ve seen so far in AI is because we can produce those two modes. We have not made any real progress in synthesizing symbolic logic and deductive reasoning and other modes of thinking.”
  • Since GenAIs have been trained on the entirety of human traces in the web — most of it mediocre — it produces “wisdom of the crowd”-like results, which exhibit the biases, prejudices, weaknesses, and vices of all of us.
  • No matter how fast or ‘smart’ an AI may be, as long as it runs on silicon it will remain an alien. Its intelligence will be brilliant, but alien. Its humor will be sharp, but a little off. Its ‘creativity’ will be intense, but a little otherworldly.
  • We are trying to anticipate AI for several generations and its full effects will take decades to play out. Presumably we’ll be arguing and wrangling with the changes brought about by AI for the next decades. Why? Because AI operates so close to our own inner self and identity, we are potentially headed into a decades-long identity crisis.
  • I believe AI can and should exist. Co-exist. But in balance with our Original Intelligence. Key task for humanity now is to balance the power of living consciousness and the power of machines.
  • The next 10-20 years will show our ability to activate our Original Intelligence, to step into compassion for all beings, into our true soul purpose & essence and even to connect with a higher collective consciousness.
  • And this purpose and essence is so big that it will certainly integrate and make the space for the right dose of AI and other human-competitive or -threatening technologies.
  • We need a systemic awareness process because this conversation and activation is an urgent one – because we currently live in a highly and broadly traumatized society, individually and collectively.
  • Trauma and technology is not the best combination, because in this setting technologists tend to create rather sick concepts grafted on top or outside of true reality.
  • If we were able, carried by a collective and healed coherence, to move towards embodiment and technology, then we would relate differently to technology, and we would create solutions that are balanced, and truly serve the sole purpose to heal people, planet, core processes and systems.
  • Relation is the key word here, because for many of us it is challenging to relate to each other, to nature, to the universe, to the Divine and to technology.
  • Without relating we tend to create not-thought-through and high-risk solutions that won’t solve our big problems; and we keep deploying solutions that will not heal us and will not let us evolve into our individual and collective true soul purpose.
  • Also, curse and blessing at the same time of AI or any other exponential technologies is that those don’t contain any mystical dimensions of life, which are elemental if you wanna live a fully actualized life.
  • We all have to arrive at ourselves, in our essence, and in this essence we would also be able to perceive others in their essence. I call this the ‘collectively healed coherence’ towards an embodied technology development.
Embodiment & technology over trauma & technology.
Stefan Liske, April 2023

Original Intelligence (or better Original Wisdom) defines our individual and collective true nature, our true soul purpose if you will. This requires the full actualization of our being, of our potential, of our Original Intelligence (OI). This actualization is all humanity needs to balance the power of all living consciousness (Original Intelligence) and the power of machines and algorithms.
The term Original Intelligence was conceived by Stefan Liske in Costa Rica in December 2022, based on the strong belief that humanity needs to upgrade itself and all its underlying systems and organizations. Almost like a universal operating system (uOS) upgrade, based on a revised understanding of how individual and collective consciousness influences the physical world. Once we are willing to extend the classic Newtonian physics it allows the vision of an unfinished universe and a world that allows for genuine freedom, a world in which the observer phenomenon and its impact on reality is acknowledged. This in return empowers us to redefine our recipe for choice, creation and imagination – to become true creators and pioneers again, who are able to activate and integrate the new energies within new systems toward new futures. These fully actualized OI beings (and pioneers) are able to enter the flow state, to lose time, to be free, and to create truly new futures from that exact space.

ah yes thank you for the very much bitcoin-related article

The author argues that Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be in balance with Original Intelligence (OI), which refers to our individual and collective true wisdom. Advanced AI systems could pose profound risks to society and humanity if not planned for and managed carefully, and the key task for humanity now is to balance the power of living consciousness and the power of machines. GenAI/LLMs have been trained on the entirety of human traces in the web, which produces “wisdom of the crowd”-like results that exhibit the biases, prejudices, weaknesses, and vices of all of us. The author also emphasizes the importance of systemic awareness and collective coherence to ensure that technology is embodied and not traumatized.
