I am traveling to Madeira to see for myself the bitcoin community and the Free Madeira movement. Have you heard of how this economy is going and who I can DM to meet while I am there?
reply
Hit up @andreloja on Twitter. I'm not sure if he's active here on SN.

Also, enjoy the poncha.

Wow... I was just at consensus and had NO IDEA this was happening.... I would have much rather gone to this than listen to the web3 talk at consensus! I really was only looking forward to meeting bitcoiners there, which were few admittedly.
Happy to see all the btc initiatives , and glad stacker.news is there to let us know about them.

Can't run my own node at the moment. Phoenix wallet charges 3k sats minimum for swap to LN which is a bit expensive. Any advice?
reply
take what you have right now and set it up on a channel. Use the 3k I just sent you for the swap fee
reply
Wow thank you, I appreciate it! Any advice for swaps in the future? What's your method?
reply
I pay most of what I can through the LN and keep a decent balance there, but not everyone supports it, and I still spend btc for bigger transactions often.
reply
All actions aimed at promoting the massive adoption of Bitcoin are very important. There are many walls to break down and many enemies to defeat. In that mission, the Bitcoin Lightning (LN) is a powerful instrument.

they will be uploaded to youtube, but haven’t been added yet. once the vida livestreams end, those talks can be replayed at the same link as well.

solid first day of workshops and networking, tomorrow is loaded with talks from layer two builders… going to be a fun day!

really impressed with the hands on nature of the event. a bunch of the speakers are walking through their projects in a way that allows audience members to follow along and actually build things in real time
reply
Olá, vão postar em algum lugar.
the final day is kicking off shortly, it’s a hackathon for building layer two projects.
let’s see if i can figure out how to build something cool today!

there are too many good speakers this morning, can’t decide between Justin Moon’s talk on Fedimint, Gloria Zhao’s talk on the mempool as a battleground, Paul Sztorc’s talk on BIP300, or Julien’s talk on Nix for Bitcoiners.
they’re all at the exact same time, thankful for the power of video recordings.
reply
first up is a socratic seminar on fee management on layer two.
this is going to be a major learning experience for me, lots of smart people talking about technical topics that go way over my head.
