depends on which problem we are trying to solve:

• do we want to show users what we think they want to see? (or web of trust says, they should want to see)
• do we want users to decide what they want to see?
  then we need better search and thus tagging content / putting them into subs

so a twitter like feed is orthogonal to subs, I would say
