Yes, Calle is right.
Stupid people will always do stupid things.
Education and morality is very important in this matter, not censorship.

What I notice is that most of those screaming to censor these txs are the "onchain maxis" that barely know how LN works or they don't even run a LN node with good liquidity.
I was warning them for years to start using LN and build their own good channels, when the opening fees where fucking cheap. I get most of the time the reply that LN is a shitcoin, is centralized, is not private, bullshit like that.

I will always say:

  • onchain = should be used exclusively to open/close LN channels and only in rare cases using it to transfer a large amount of BTC, with patience and higher fees.
  • LN = IS THE PAYMENT NETWORK, secured by large channels (not tiny 30-50-100k sats), where you can refill anytime using a swap from onchain.

I agree with calle there.

I also like this comment:

Instead of asking why are there inscriptions, we should be asking why is this an issue for the network?

We'd have similar congestion with a billion new users.

Perhaps the angst right now in the community is more a function of Bitcoin's current limitations in terms of scalability.

Bitcoin isn't inevitable. It still requires a lot of hard work if it is going to scale for all of humanity, especially in a self sovereign way.

Instead of considering censorship we should be talking about improving scalability.

Lower your time preference and see the forest through the trees
