I live only using bitcoin for many years.
Yes, is not easy. You really have to have balls and determination to do that.
And most important thing: a local community that could help you. You are the one that create it, slowly with patience and a lot of convincing work.

And like you said, I have some friends that want to get some btc, they pay my bills, I gave them btc. Win win like you said.
But to be able to do this you need to do an important step: be paid in bitcoin. So start looking for a job that pays in bitcoin or start a business that accept btc or you can use Bitwage to get your wage straight into btc.
